revive the dead!

hm-- today i was thinking about death - how and why humans will die. if plastic surgery can be performed - 'fixing' the 'imperfections' to whatever the patient desires, why can't we revive 'the dead'? as in..why are we dead? heart not pumping? can't we design a device that will act as 'the heart'? can we save lives?

i guess in science, there's no such thing as 'complicated' thing - simply because science is about humans developing the knowledge, logic and resources TO THE MAX! so even it's complicated, that's the point of science. anyway.

i want to talk to someone about this. but i don't really know where to start. i guess if i'm really going to have a 'chat' with someone from the science department..i should read something about live / deeply scientific first.

hm.

very interesting question in several parts. ok, so you replace organs that decay and die..but if you read arthur clark's rama series, you'll note that he gives an example of a minister or priest being entirely replaced by machines..and in the end his brain became to badly damaged that it too was somewhat replaced..and the other characters were confused saying 'are you your original self? how do you know if you arent' so its a question of identity...and besides..whats so scary about death? is it because it is unknown? or is it because ppl think they will be punished? or is it because they think they like this world better than the next? what is the use of living forever if you dont acomplish anything? i think issac asimov gave a nice example of long lived humans vs short lived humans in his robot series by saying because the short lived humans have very short lifespan..they attempt to do as much as they can..but the long lived ones because they have so much time..centuries..they take their time in their advancement..and dont progress as fast.

Reviving the dead is a bad idea as can be seen from all the videogames that involve raising the dead. especially house of the dead and resident evil (as well as countless others)

I completely reject raising dead people unless they are really smart or sexy. I mean who wants a bunch of stupid/ugly people?
